Anand Pawar's dream run in Scottish Open ends

By Staff

Bangalore, Nov 26 (UNI) The fine run of India's Anand Pawar came to an end in the Scottish Open when Japanese Kenichi Tago rallied back to beat the upcoming star 12-21, 21-9, 21-19 in an exciting semifinal.

Anand, a trainee in TATA Padukone Badminton Academy here, won the first game comfortably but failed to sustain the pace and lost the second. In the decider Anand led 19-17 but the promising Japanese cornered the glory by taking four points in a row.

Tago later went on to win the title defeating top German player Bjoern Joppien in the final 11-21, 21-15, 21-18, a TPBA release said here.

Anand along with Aditi Mutatkar would return to India to compete in the Indian Satellite Championship to be held in Guwahati from December 1.
