Over 4 lakh visit Haryana Pavilion in Delhi

Chandigarh, Nov 25 (UNI) Approximately 4.5 lakh visitors have visited the Haryana Pavilion and more then 1100 domestic business enquiries have been recieved, including 18 export enquiries involving a business of Rs 21 crore.

This was informed by an official spokesman at the Haryana Pavilion put up at the India International Trade Fair at New Delhi.

A seminar on organic farming was also organized at the Pavilion and while addressing the seminar the Managing Director of HAFED, Mr Sudhir Rajpal said that organic farming was coming up strongly worldwide for sustainable development of agriculture and value addition of agri-produce.

The seminar on 'Organic Farming' was organised by the Trade Fair Authority of Haryana in association with HAFED at the Pavilion.

Mr Rajpal enumerated the benefits of the organic farming and highlighted its commercial aspects in the seminar. He said that to get maximum benefits of commercial aspects of organic farming, it was emphasised that certification should be done as per the standards of the country where the product was finally to be sold.

Mr Rajpal said that in India also the demand for organic food was increasing and this was encouraging the farmers towards organic farming. However, organic farming is much more than just a business, it was a need of the hour as far as environment and health issues are concerned and farmers and consumers converting to organic farming are doing great social service also, he added.

Mr Rajpal suggested to the farmers to go in for organic farming in by associating themselves into a'Organic Grower Group'.

He said that professional extension services, marketing guidance, certification support might be provided by a managing body of the Group.
