New Delhi, Nov 25 (UNI) Pakistan vice captain Younis Khan believes that their hero of first innings of the first test at Feroz Shah Kotla, Misbah-ul-Haq, has been an ideal replacement for the former captain Inzamam-ul-Haq.
The vice captain said,''The innings by Misbah was very mature and he seems to be an ideal replacement for Inzamam. Misbah can play big shots like those we saw in the Twenty20 World Championship, he can play a more defensive knock too, like the one in Delhi.'' Misbah, along with tailender Mohommad Sami, frustrated the Indians in the first innings as he scored a patient 82 when all the other batsmen had returned to the hut without contributing much to the team score.
''He has waited a long time for his chance, so I am sure he is now determined to make the most of his opportunities,'' stated Younis.
The vice captain was optimistic about his team's chances in the first test as he says that their first innings score of 231 was a good one.
''In terms of the Test series, we feel 231 was a good score on that first day in Delhi because conditions for batting were very difficult,'' he said.
According to Younis, Pakistan's loss in the ODI series against India resulted because Pakistan did not take their chances.
''Of course, the one-day series was also close at 3-2 and even though some may say India had won it before the fifth match, we feel we should have won the Guwahati and Gwalior matches,'' he said.
