Minister urges Centre to apply Swaminathan recommendations
Hyderabad, Nov 25 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Agriculture Minister N Raghuveera Reddy today urged the Centre to implement the Swaminathan Committee recommendations to solve the problems faced by farmers in the state.
Addressing a press conference here, Mr Reddy said there was a lack of scientific approach in deciding the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for agricultural produce.
Stating that the government was committed to the welfare of farmers, he said ''we are already implementing the recommendations of 'Jayathi Ghosh Committee Report' for the benefit of farmers.'' ''The Centre has already promised to constitute a committee for implementing Swaminathan Committee recommendations,'' he said, adding that the Centre had accepted the report in principle.
