Mumbai, Nov 25: The coveted title of Amul Star Voice of India (ASVOI) was bagged by Ishmeet Singh at the grand finale held in Mumbai last evening.
Legendary Bollywood singer Lata Mangeshkar handed Ishmeet Singh with the trophy of ''Voice of India''. Impressed by the exceptional talent of the finalists, Lata Mangeshkar gifted the two finalists with exclusive diamond studded gold watches from her Swarnanjali collection worth nearly Rs three lakh each.
Besides, the winner has also bagged an exclusive singing contract with Big Music for three years and a brand new Chevrolet Aveo U-VA.
When asked to declare the result of the winner Lata Mangeshkar said, ''Please don't tell me to declare the winner. In don't like saying one looses and one wins. Both have sung very well.'' Bollywood diva Madhuri Dixit made a special appearance on the platform of ASVOI with a jig on the title track of Aaja Nachle along with the female contestants of Voice of India. She also sang a couplet from the film .
The total percentage of votes received by Ishmeet and Harshit were 52 per cent and 48 per cent respectively.
The journey of ASVOI began in May 2007 with many talented aspiring singers being chosen from across six cities through auditions conducted at Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai, Lucknow, Indore and Jaipur with only 33 contestants making it to Mumbai.
The show had a panel of five esteemed judges -- Alka Yagnik, Abhijeet, Aadesh Srivastava, Jatin Pandit, Lait Pandit and the celebrity host, Shaan.
