Boat capsizes with around 100 in South Eastern B'desh

Dhaka, Nov 25: One person died and many went missing after a trawler capsized with more than 100 people in Teknaf river of Cox's Bazar in southeastern Bangladesh.

Police Super of Cox's Bazar Bazar Kumar Majumdar said that the people, mostly from Myanmar, were travelling by a fishing trawler in disguise of fishermen to enter Malaysia illegally.

One body was recovered while many other missing.

Human traffickers used the waterway of the Bay of Bengal for smuggling people mostly from Myanmar to Malaysia or Thailand.

In the past six months, police arrested some 300 people from different points of Teknaf river while they were being trafficked to Kuala Lumpur or Bangkok.
