Jaunpur, Nov 25 (UNI) In the backdrop of the serial blasts in Uttar Pradesh on Friday, BJP today blamed the ''appeasement and lax policies'' of the UPA government at the Centre for the spurt in terrorism incidents in the country.

Talking to newspersons here, senior BJP leader and former Uttar Pradesh party unit president Keshri Nath Tripathi said the incumbent Central regime had taken several such decisions from time to time, that have enhanced the audacity of terrorists.'' He listed repeal of POTA, troop reduction in Kashmir and delaying the capital punishment of Parliament attack accused Mohd Afzal Guru to buttress his point.

''Some anti-national forces are working in the country, which provide tacit support to the ultras,'' he asserted.

Mr Tripathi claimed that none of the country's intelligence agencies had prior information about the serial blasts in Lucknow, Varanasi and Faizabad.

''Had the central and state intelligence agencies been active, the three blasts would not have taken place,'' he noted.
