Western Command's dental centre is the best

Chandigarh, Nov 24 (UNI) The Command Military Dental Centre (CMDC), Western Command, Chandimandir has been adjudged as the best CMDC by an expert team from the office of the Director General of Armed Forces Medical Services (DGAFMS).

The award ceremony was held at New Delhi this week and the trophy was awarded to Brig K Ravishankar, Commandant, Western Command Military Dental Centre.

A high level team detailed by DGAFMS had visited the CMDC in March to assess its standards. The team had visited all the five CMDC's of army across the country and also the Air Force Institute of Dental Science (AFIDS) Bangalore and Naval Institute of Dental Science (NIDS) in Mumbai and finally decided to award the CMDC, Western Command.

CMDC (WC) has been in Chandimandir since October 1999, though the unit was raised in March 1948 at Delhi. The unit is co-located with Command Hospital (WC), Chandimandir and is the biggest Command Military Dental Centre providing both routine and specialist cover to largest number of troops.

The unit has progressed very rapidly for last few years by doubling up the facilities and strength of officers resulting in three fold increase in the output which is qualitatively and quantitatively very high.

Lt Gen Y Singh, DGAFMS &andSenior Col Commandant and Lt Gen Paramjit Singh, DGDS and Col Commandant complimented the CMDC (WC) for the achievement. The achievement was made possible by the generous and timely help received from HQ Western Command, DGAFMS and DGDS.
