Preparations on for President's tour

Nashik, Nov 24 (UNI) Preparations are underway for President Pratibha Patil's two-day tour of the district.

According to the sources, the President will be on a two-day tour of the district. She will arrive here on Monday evening. On November 27, she will visit the Sai Baba temple at Shirdi. In the evening on the same day, Mrs Patil will attend an inaugural ceremony of 'Ashwamedh-2007', the inter-university sports competition, organised by the Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University (YCMOU), here.

On November 28, the President will attend a function at MET educational institute at Adgaon. In the evening, she will inaugurate the first 'Nasik Festival', organised to mark the silver jubilee of Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) and the Yashwantrao Chavan Planetarium. On the same day, she will leave for New Delhi.

Arrangement for the President's stay, during the tour, has been made at the Government Rest House here, where various renovation works are being made and additional security arrangements have been done for the President's tour. Additional security personnel have been brought specially for the President's tour.

The streets are being repaired and the venues of the programmes, where the President will visit, have been decked up. Thus the government machinery as well as the citizens here are eagerly awaiting for the tour of the first woman President of India.

Besides Mrs Patil, Maharashtra Governor S M Krishna and Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh will arrive in the city on November 27.

Next day, Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar and Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel will arrive for the functions, sources added.
