New Delhi, Nov 23 (UNI) The commerial losses in State power utilities, such as State Electricity Boards, have reduced by more than 15-20 per cent over the past few years, Power Minister Sushilkumar Shinde informed the Lok Sabha today.
Such losses, which had increased from Rs 19,107 crore in 2003-04 to Rs 23,880 crore in 2004-05, reduced to Rs 19,546 crore in 2005-06, alongside increase in turnover, according to the latest Report of the Power Finance Corporation, Mr Shinde said in reply to a supplementary.
These losses do not include subsidies given by the Centre.
Responding to another Question, he said POWERGRID had planned the development of new transmission schemes that would benefit Karnataka in particular and the southern region in general.
These involve laying of 2000 ckt km of transmission lines along with three sub-stations of 765/400 kv with a transmission capacity of 5930 MVA, he said.
