Patna, Nov 24 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today alleged that RJD President and Railway Minister Lalu Prasad patronised the perpetrators of Bhagalpur riot of 1989 and ordered closure of the related cases without proper investigation.
Inaugurating the NDA office here today, Mr Kumar demanded that Mr Prasad should clarify his stand regarding closure of the cases without taking them to a final conclusion. He said his government had reopened such cases and ensured conviction of the accused, who were allowed to go scot free during the RJD regime in the state.
''During the RJD regime, social tension was high but with the initiative of the NDA government, a new era of communal harmony and amity in the society had begun'', Mr Kumar claimed.
He expressed concern over the difficulties being faced by the train passengers and said the Railway Minister was not paying enough attention to his ministry and instead was only engaged in political activities in the state.
The Chief Minister called upon the NDA workers to convince the people about the achievement of his government in remote areas of the state.
