Lalu Prasad inaugurates newly electrified and renovated ER division

Krishnagar, Nov 24 (UNI) Railway Minister Lalu Prasad today inaugurated the newly electrified and renovated Sealdah-Krishnagar-Lalgola division of the Eastern Railway (ER).

ER sources said the electrification of the 127.67 kms route between Krishnagar and Lalgola was sanctioned in 2002-03 at an estimated cost of Rs 72.12 crore.

Besides, new broad gauge lines between Krishnagar and Charatala, covering a distance of 12.8 kms at an estimated cost of Rs 57.5 crore, were also laid, the sources added.

The Railway Minister announced the allocation of a new train - Hazardwari Express - as demanded by the people of Nadia and also said he would consider the proposal of constructing a parallel third line for goods trains, besides conversion of narrow guage to broad guage lines.

Mr Lalu Prasad also announced that the next rail budget would incorporate more facilities for the common man.
