Jammu, Nov 24 (UNI) The Body of the top Harkat-ul-Jehad-e-Islami (HUJI) militant commander, who was allegedly killed by his own associates, was recovered from the upper reaches of Chhatroo in Jammu and Kashmir's Kishtwar district today, police sources said.
HUJI 'district commander' Abdul Rashid, alias Danish (code Sarwar), was shot dead by the 'supreme commander' of the outfit Bashir, alias Sabba last evening, sources said.
''Acting on a tip off that Danish would lay down weapons before the security forces following HUJI's 'divisional commander' Sher Khan (who surrendered in Kashmir valley on Thursday), Sabba killed him,'' a source told UNI.
Danish was active in the area since 1993-94 and involved in several militancy activities.
The killing of the ultra by his associates was an attempt to halt the momentum of surrenders being made by the militants in the state.
