BJP leader defends candidate selection in Gujarath elections
Gulbarga, Nov 24 (UNI) Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Lok Sabha member Ananth Kumar, has strongly defended the issue of party tickets to large number of fresh candidates in the coming assembly elections in Gujarath.
Speaking to newsmen here today Mr Kumar who was also secretary, Election Committee in Gujarath for BJP has said that the decision to nominate more number of fresh candidates in the Gujarath assembly elections was aimed to ward-off anti-incumbancy factor if any.
He said the party's election committee has finalised over 171 candidates which had figured over 25 women contestants and expressed confidence that party would come back to power.
On Karnataka Mr Ananthkumar informed that UPA government was all set to dissolve the Karnataka assembly and within two days a notification may be issued after the proclamation of Center's rule was ratified by both the houses of Parliament.
When asked his comments on former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy's allegation that BJP leader leader and former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa had asked rs 5 crore to join JD(S) Mr Ananthkumar brushing aside the allegation said that "No value should be attached to Kumaraswamy's words".
