Hyderabad, Nov 24 (UNI) Adequate security was lacking in nine cinema theatres and ten shopping malls in this city.

This came to light when the police today conducted surprise checks on shopping malls, cinema theatres and other places of public congregation to verify the security measures in the wake of serial blasts in Uttar Pradesh.

The city police had asked the managements of theatres and malls to install security equipment and frisk visitors thoroughly to improve public safety following the terror strikes in, among other places, Lumbini Park, Gokul Chat and Mecca Masjid in this city in the past.

As part of the drive to enforce compliance of these instructions, the City Police conducted surprise checks at various cinema theatres and shopping malls in the city by sending decoys.

It was found that nine cinema theatres and ten shopping malls among those checked were not implementing adequate security measures.

Though some of them have installed security equipment, the visitors were not being screened due to which the decoys could easily gain entry into the premises.

The managements were served notices by the Police Department to improve the security measures immediately failing which action would be initiated to suspend their licences till the security at such premises was enhanced, a police press note said.
