Puducherry, Nov 23 (UNI) Tension prevailed for some time at the venue of a sports meet for disabled today when the president of the physically handicapped federation Mr Velayudham entered into an argument with welfare minister M Kandasamy.
When the minister was about to leave the Indira Gandhi sports complex, Mr Velayudham approached the minister and demanded that the representatives of all the handicapped associations should be allowed to speak at the function being organised on December 3.
Mr Kandasamy replied that there were 43 associations and how could it be possible to allow one from each association to speak at the function and added that inorder to sort out the problem, there was a meeting yesterday and asked him why he failed to turn up. Following this Velayudham entered into an argument with the minister.
Meanwhile, members of other associations for disabled protested against Mr Velayudham and shut him down stating that the minister is doing a lot for the welfare of the disabled and why he want to spoil those and put an end to the problem.
