Six held for attempted robbery in Pimpri-Chinchwad

A
notorious
criminal
and
his
five
associates
were
arrested
when
their
attempt
to
rob
a
jewellery
shop
in
the
Pimpri-Chinchwad
area
on
Thursday
was
foiled
by
the
police.
Talking to reporters here, Additional Commissioner of Police Rajendra Singh said acting on a tip-off that Shekhar Suresh Bankhede along with his five associates were coming to rob a jewellary shop in Pimpri-Chinchwad area, police team laid a trap and apprehended them before they could make an assualt on the jewellery shop and thus saved the owner from getting robbed.
He said the police have recovered two revolvers, five live cartriges and other sharp weapons from their possession.
The prime accused, Bankhede, has been involved in various other cases such as extortion, dacoity and other related crimes.
The police were trying to nab him for over two months. And ultimately, they have been successful in nabbing him today, he added.
