Badwani, MP, Nov 23 (UNI) Seven constables were today dismissed from service after being exposed by a police-sponsored sting operation for taking bribes for allowing illegal transport of cows in trucks on the Agra-Mumbai National Highway in this district.

Superintendent of Police Praveen Mathur said the then Deputy Inspector General of Police Vipin Maheshwari had started a sting operation on the lines of electronic media following complaints of illegal transportation of cows.

A police team boarded trucks and captured illegal activities of police personnel, who were also issuing tokens to truck drivers that could be used as 'pass' in police stations.

This video was shown to the IG (Indore), who ordered departmental investigation against guilty constables and sought reply from the then SP and Station House Officers concerned.

Seven constables -- Balram, Baseel, Umesh, Ganpati Tare, Khem Singh, Krishankant and Mohanlal -- were dismissed today. Four homeguards had been already been dismissed in this case.
