Russia disappointed by US reply over missile shield : Official
Moscow, Nov 23 (UNI) Moscow expressed disappointment over Washington's reply on the offer it made to the US for using its radar systems as an alternative to missile shield plans in Central Europe.
''The United States submitted to us concrete missile defence proposals,'' an official of the Russian Foreign Ministry told Itar-Tass today.
He said the first review proved that the US position on the deployment of missile defence components in Europe remained unchanged after it pledged to draft written proposals within a six-week time.
''Our hopes are disappointed. This contradicts to what had been promised at the meeting in the ''two-plus-two'' format in Moscow.
Nevertheless, we continue to study US proposals,'' he said.
Russia yesterday received written proposals from the United States on its missile shield in Europe, which was awaited since mid-October.
