Rs 267 cr invested in Dhamara port project

Bhubaneswar, Nov 23 (UNI) The Dhamara Port Company Ltd (DPCL) has so far invested Rs 267 crore for the port's construction, Commerce Minister Jayanarayan Mishra told the Assembly today.

Replying to a question of Mr Netrananda Mallik (Cong), the Minister said so far 1891.66 acres of land had been acquired for laying of railway line for the port and 879.10 acres of land for construction of the port.

Acquisition of 216.18 acres of land for the railway line and 33.37 acre for the port were yet to be made, Mr Mishra said.

The company had engaged L&T limited for laying of railway line and port construction and entrusted dredging work to ISDPL, a joint venture company created by L&T Ltd and Dredging International (I) Pvt Ltd, he said.

Replying to a question of Mr Aswini Kumar Patra (Cong), the Minister said the government had signed aN MoU in December last year with Creative Port Development Pvt Ltd, a Chennai-based company for construction of a port at the mouth of the Subarnarekha river.

Meanwhile, the company had applied for environment clearance and rail transport to the Centre.

The company, he said, would sign an agreement with the government in this regard.
