Dharamshala, Nov 23 (UNI) Kangra Deputy Commissioner Ashwani Kapoor today said a report about the setting up of a polling booth in the remote Bara Bhangal panchayat in the district has been submitted to the Election Commission (EC).
''I have only submitted a report to the EC and have made no recommendations in it. It is now up to it whether it will order the setting up of a polling booth there or not,'' he told UNI here.
Mr Kapoor was reacting to news reports that more than 400 people in this remote area were unlikely to cast their vote this time since the nearest polling station was 72 km away.
Besides, to cast votes in the nearest polling station at Bir, the residents have to undertake 300 km bus journey from Holi in Chamba.
He said the district administration was awaiting the EC's directions and added that they would ensure that the villagers were not denied their right to cast their votes.
