Ayodhya, Nov 23 (UNI) Police today arrested a pupil of Sri Ram Janmabhoomi Nyas president Mahant Nritya Gopal Das for writing a threatening letter to the Mahant for mounting pressure on Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) for beefing up his master's security.
Superintendent of Police (city) Gopesh Nath Khanna said Santosh Jaiswal was vexed with the saffron brigrade for not providing high class security cover to the Mahant as been given to VHP president Ashok Singhal and general secretary Paveen Bhai Togadia.
Therefore, he wrote a threatening letter to the Mahant in the name of al-Quida to pressurise VHP.
The intelligence team nabbed Santosh yesterday night in Hardwar, Mr Khanna added.
On interrogation, he confessed to the crime.
Early yesterday, Mahant Nritya Gopal Das had received a letter purportedly writted by terror outfit al-Quida.
The letter stated ''either convert to Islam along with your pupils or be ready to be murdered.'' Earlier too, the Mahant and his pupils had a narrow escape, when masked men hurled bombs at them, while they were going to bath at Ram Ki Pauri in Saryu river.
