Lt Gen T K Sapru flags off 4GR car rally for Pithoragarh

Chandigarh, Nov 23 (UNI) Lt General T K Sapru, GOC-in-C, Western Command and Colonel 4GR, flagged off the Fourth Gorkha Riffles (4GR) car rally for Pithoragarh at Chandimandir, near here, today.

The rally, which has been organised on the occasion of historic sesquicentennial celebrations of 4GR, would be reaching Pithoragarh tomorrow, where the Regiment was raised in 1857.

The rally, led by Maj K B Gurung and team second-in-command Lt Rahman, will cover an approximate distance of 900 kilometers in two states before reaching its destination.

The rally will foster the spirit of adventure and develop soldiering and team building among the participants. The rally also intends to encourage the youth to join the prestigious Armed Forces in service of the nation.

During the rally, the team will renew relations and meet the retired soldiers and their families. The rally intends to spread the message of environmental protection.
