Nagpur, Nov 23 (UNI) Maharashtra Minister of State for Revenue Rajendra Shingne today announced in the Legislative Assembly the suspension of four government officials posted in Thane district for providing wrong information to the government.

Replying to supplementaries during the question hour today, Mr Shingne said that the Tehsildar, the Block Development Officer (BDO), the Talathi and the Gramsevak concerned of village Agashi in Vasai tehsil of Thane district would be suspended forthwith.

''These employees had given wrong information to the government about land that actually belonged to the Wakf Board'', Mr Shingne said.

On the basis of the information, the City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) had granted permission for construction of buildings on the land'', the minister said.

He also told the House during supplementaries on a question from Eknath Khadse (BJP) and others that a meeting of all the departments concerned, including Home, Revenue and Forests, would be convened shortly to discuss the issue of encroachments on grazing and forest lands.

Several members pointed out that the police should register offences under the Atrocity Act against the Sarpanch of the village concerned, if he tries to remove the encroachments on the grazing lands.

A comprehensive policy in this regard would be worked out soon, Mr Shingne assured the House.
