Indore, Nov 22: Amid speculation about the imminent return of Ms Uma Bharti to the Bharatiya Janata Party, the Bhartiya Janshakti founded by her has decided to field a candidate in the Assembly byelection in Indore's Sanver constituency, where polling is scheduled on December 12.
BJ has decided to field Ranjit Sonkar, elder brother of late BJP minister Prakash Sonkar, in the byelection as its potential candidate Santosh Malviya has rebelled and joined the BJP, which gave him ticket also.
BJ's former general secretary Prahlad Patel told reporters here today that Mr Ranjit Sonkar would file the nomination tomorrow.
''BJP had betrayed by denying ticket to a member of Sonkar family,'' he said. BJ would give a decisive fight in Sanver.
Sanver seat fell vacant due to the death of state minister Prakash Sonkar.
Mr Ranjit Sonkar said the BJP had earlier promised to give ticket to Mr Prakash Sonkar's wife Nisha Sonkar and the entire family was united on this issue. But BJP ultimately gave ticket to Mr Santosh Malviya, he added.
Meanwhile, Mr Patel described as 'speculation' reports about the possibility of Ms Bharti's return to BJP.
