New Delhi, Nov 22 (UNI) Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office Prithviraj Chavan today admitted in the Upper House that Indian Space Research Organisation(ISRO) had made it mandatory for all students passing out of the Institute of Space Science and Technology(IIST) with 'first class' to serve the ISRO for five years.

Mr Chavan, in a written reply, said this has been done since the cost of education in the IIST had been totally subsidised.

The Minister further said, as all students graduating from the IIST with first class would have to serve ISRO mandatory for a minimum period of five years, it would reduce the annual exodus of scientists from the ISRO to that extent in future.
