New Delhi, Nov 22 (UNI) The Defence Ministry today clarified that the computers stolen from Defence Materials and Stores Research and Development Establishment (DMSRDE) in Kanpur were used for routine work and did not contain any classified or secret data.

Media reports, however, claimed that one of three computers stolen sometime between November 16 and 19 was connected with a Defence Research Development Orgnaisation (DRDO) internet and contained information about scientists and defence projects.

DMSRDE, a DRDO unit, has filed a first information report (FIR) with the local police station for investigations on the basis of a preliminary report submitted by the inquiry committee, the Ministry said in a statement.

The DRDO's unit is basically a science and technology related laboratory working in the areas on non-metallic materials and textiles.
