State government signs PPA with THDC
Jaipur, Nov 22 (UNI) The Rajasthan government and the Tehri Hydro Development Corporation Ltd (THDC) today signed power purchase agreements(PPA) for the purchase of 400 MW of power from Koteshwar Hydro Electric project and 444 MW of power from Vishnugad Pipal Koti Hydro Electric Project.
The agreements have been signed by the CMDs of Jaipur Vidyut Vitaran Nigam, Ajmer Vidyut Vitaran Nigam and Jodhpur Vidyut Vitaran Nigam on behalf of the state government and the Director, Finance on behalf of Tehri Hydro Development Corporation Ltd, a joint venture of the centre and UP government.
The Koteshwar project is under commission and is expected to start generation from June 2010. The cost of the project is being jointly shared by the centre and UP Rajasthan will be allocated about eight per cent power from these two projects.
The energy generated by these two projects will substantially add to the energy pool of northern region and further stabilise the northern grid, a government spokesman said.
