Hisar, Nov 22 (UNI) After Germany and France, it is now Russia that has come forward to have scientific collaboration with Haryana Agricultural University.
A four-member Russian Delegation led by Mr Ivanov Andrey, Vice-President, Russian Academy of Agricultural Sciences today called on the HAU Vice-Chancellor Dr J C Katyal and expressed its desire to have collaboration in conservation of natural resources and academic exchange.
During the last two years two American Universities namely Michigan State University and Maryland University have already signed MoUs with Haryana Agricultural University for exchange of faculty and students, agricultural researches and intellectual property rights (IPR), while Germany and France have expressed interest for similar collaborations.
The four-member Russian delegation accompanied by varsity Director of Research, Dr B S Chhillar today visited the university research farm and interacted with the scientists and took stock of the ongoing researches being carried out in field of horticulture, oilseed crops, medicinal and aromatic plants and animal biotechnology.
The delegation also visited the university library.
In the meeting with the Vice-Chancellor, Dr J C Katyal the members of delegation expressed their desire to work together in areas of natural resource management and academic exchange. The delegation applauded the high standards maintained by the university in its researches and academics.
The Vice-Chancellor said in accordance with the changing demands and emerging needs of the time, the varsity had intensified research work on soil and water conservation and environmental protection apart from developing technology suitable for climatic changes as well as small and marginal farmers friendly.
Mr Katyal also apprised the Russian delegation about university's financial resources, various degree programmes and their admission process.
