Chandigarh, Nov 22 (UNI) Senior Congress leaders, including Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) president Rajinder Kaur Bhattal will campaign for the party candidates in the Himachal Pradesh assembly elections to be held on December 19.
The Punjab Congress will concentrate on the assembly seats in the districts bordering Punjab i.e., lower Himachal Pradesh, including the districts of Kangra, Hamirpur, Chamba and Una, which have a sizeable Sikh population.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the PPCC members, party MPs and MLAs held here today. The meeting was chaired by Mrs Bhattal.
Later, after the meeting, Mrs Bhattal indicated to mediapersons that she, along with other senior leaders including former chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh and her predecessor Shamsher Singh Dullo, would be the main campaigners.
When asked about the absence of Capt Singh from today's meeting, Mrs Bhattal quipped, ''he is attending to his ailing mother.'' UNI
