Over 37 lakh tonne paddy arrives in Haryana mandis

Chandigarh, Nov 22 (UNI) Government procuring agencies have procured 17.67 lakh metric tonnes(MTs) of paddy so far out of total arrival of 37.38 tonnes in various 'mandis' of the state.

Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan today said out of total arrival, 25.69 lakh metric tonnes was leviable paddy, while 11.88 lakh paddy was non-leviable.

Mr Chander Mohan said HAFED had procured 7.15 lakh MTs of paddy, Food and Supplies Department 5.60 lakh MTs, Agro Industries Corporation 2.22 lakh MTs, Confed two lakh MTs and Haryana Warehousing Corporation 59,357 MTs and Food Corporation of India 9,497 MTs.

He said Kurukshetra district was ahead of all the districts of the state with the arrival of 7.01 lakh MTs of paddy, followed by Karnal 6.13 lakh MTs, Fatehabad 4.71 lakh MTs, Kaithal 4.56 lakh MTs, Ambala 3.03 lakh MTs, Jind 2.55 lakh MTs, Yamunanagar 2.15 lakh MTs, Panipat 1.71 lakh MTs, Sirsa 1.70 MTs and Faridabad 1.41 lakh MTs.

The Deputy Chief Minister said the payment was being made within 48 to 72 hours to the farmers. A sum of Rs 985 crore had been arranged for the payment of paddy to the farmers, he added.
