Fatehgarh Sahib, Nov 22 (UNI) Several trains, including Barouni-Jammu Express, Muda Express and other superfast trains were delayed here today due to missing railway track near village Harbanspura in the district.
However, the timely detection of the missing railway track by the railway employee Chhote Lal just before Barouni-Jammu Express was to pass through, averted a major accident.
Raj Kumar Gupta, PWI from Railway Station, Mandi Gobindgarh immediately reached the spot on getting the information and stopped Barouni-Jammu Express and about a dozen other trains.
While the track was being repaired, temporary arrangements were made to pass the trains in slow speed.
The Barouni-Jammu Express, already three hours behind schedule, was delayed for another one hour due to the damaged track.
The passengers of Muda Express and other superfast trains also faced great inconvenience.
Railway officials ruled out any foul play behind the incident, explaining that cracks had developed in the track.
