Lok Satta to hold intra-party polls by secret ballot
Hyderabad, Nov 22 (UNI) The Lok Satta party would conduct organisational elections by secret ballot and preferential voting for over 50 divisions on December 2, party National Co-ordinator Jayaprakash Narayan said today.
Addressing a press conference here, Mr Narayan said this would be the first time in India that a political party would conduct organisational elections through secret ballot.
''All the party candidates would be chosen by the party members through secret ballot. There will be affirmative action policies to promote leadership of women, youth, backward classes and minorities and Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes,'' Mr Narayan said.
The nomination process would begin at 0900 hrs on November 26 and end at 1200 hrs on November 27. The last date for withdrawal of nominations was on November 28, a party release here said.
