India's aid for cyclone-hit reaches Bangladesh
New Delhi, Nov 22 (UNI) An Indian Air Force aircraft carrying relief material for cyclone-affected people of Bangladesh reached the neighbouring country today.
Relief material abroad IL-76, which left Palam airport in the forenoon, comprised of tents, ready-to-eat food, medicines, water purifying kits and blankets, the Defence Ministry said in a statement. More relief material would be sent on November 23 and 24 to Dhaka, it added.
Before flying to the Bangladesh capital with the relief material, Wg Cdr J Narula said ''It is a privilege for me and my crew members to be the instruments in providing relief and succour for our brethren in their hour of need.'' The integrated defence staff of the Ministry is coordinating the task of providing relief material worth one milllion dollar to Bangladesh, which was recently hit by cyclone Sidr.
