Mumbai, Nov 22 (UNI) The rebel Essel Group venture the Indian Cricket League (ICL) has appointed Zee Sports for the television production of all the cricket matches to be played from November 30 to December 16 at Chandigarh.
Commenting on the announcement, ICL Chairman (Executive Board) Kapil Dev said ''We are all set to revolutionise the game of cricket. The tournament will be covered utilising international standards of production to provide a spectacular visual cricket extravaganza. Also, state-of-the-art technologies like Physical Monitoring techniques will be introduced to monitor and minimise the wear and tear caused to the players.'' The high standard production facilities include 30 camera set up and has deployed higher technical specifications such as the inclusion of Hawk Eye, Zoomer, Snickometer, Speedgun and Third umpire to augment the production quality.
Kapil further said ''In a short span of time, the ICL has undertaken significant revamping of the cricket stadium at Tau Devi Lal Sports Complex, Sector 3, Panchkula. It has made various additions to the stadium to ensure an immensely enjoyable cricket carnival.'' New stands are being put up to increase the seating capacity of the ground between 5,000 and 6,000. Overhead lights are being put up for day-night encounters. A special media centre is being erected with all modern facilities to facilitate the working of the media personnel during the tournament, the release said.
The pavilion building is being upgraded to include individual lockers and dressing rooms for the players, umpires and match officials and a high tech broadcast studio. A festive carnival area will also be set up in the ground to pep up the atmosphere. Keeping in mind the convenience of the spectators, additional public utilities have been installed. In order to make the experience more lively, an electronic scoreboard has also been installed at the stadium.
To ensure a fair and exciting match it is necessary to provide the teams with an international standard pitch that will play the same throughout the match and will provide opportunities for an equal contest between the bat and the ball. Keeping this in mind, an international curator has created an additional brand new international standard pitches for the tournament, it added.
