Ayodhya Nov 22 (UNI) An intensive probe has been launched following a threat letter from terrorist outfit Al-Qaeda to Mahant Nritya Gopaldas.
Police Superintendent (city) Gopesh Nath Khanna said, ''the letter has been taken into custody and investigated by the intelligence department.'' The letter, with a postal stamp of Haridwar in Uttaranchal was received by the Ram temple movement functionary this morning.
''Accept Islam along with your disciples or face the death,''the letter from Al-Qaeda states.
Security of the Hindu saint has been strengthened immediately and a probe into the matter was on.
Meanwhile, Mahant Gopaldas told UNI ''the post-card, written with blue-ink, carry Haridwar's potal stamp.'' ''Saints never fear from such threats...we have taken birth for Lord Ram and can even die for them,'' the Mahant said.
''Nobody can stop the construction of Ram temple at the disputed site...Let's see what Al-Qaeda can do,'' he added.
Few years back, unidentified men had hurled bomb at him, while he was on way for a bath in holy Sarryu river at 'Ram ki Paidi' here.
The then UP Chief Minister, presently BJP national president, Rajnath Singh had also met the Mahant after the attack.
