Former CSL official convicted in corruption case
Kochi, Nov 22(UNI) The CBI Special Court here today sentenced former official of the Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) to undergo one year rigorous imprisonment and slapped a fine of Rs 17,500 on charges of corruption.
K Arumughan Pillai, former deputy manager of Ship Repair Operation of CSL, was convicted of accepting an amount of Rs 3,000 from the complainant as a motive or reward for placing orders for the supply of Max Plus Grade-III solution for the shipyard.
On the basis of the complaint, the accused was caught red-handed by the CBI while accepting an amount of Rs 3,000 from the complainant in December 2004.
