Timber smuggling: Forest officer held in Kashmir

senior
forest
official
was
arrested
by
the
police
for
his
alleged
involvement
in
the
timber
theft
in
north
Kashmir.
Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Bandipora, said a specific information was received that some smugglers with the help of forest officials were looting green gold from a compartment at Bonkoot, Bandipora.
He said immediately raids were conducted and a range officer Ghulam Mohammad Malla was arrested alongwith illegal timber loaded in a truck SDPO said a FIR number 206/2007, under section 379, 409, 468 RPC, 6 Forest Act has been registered in this regard against the official.
