The survey would be done by the Centre for Socio-Economic and Environmental Studies (CSES) under the sponsorship of Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, said DLHS-3 National Co-ordinator T V Sekhar. The survey would cover 15,400 households in Kerala and 1,320 in Lakshadweep Islands, he added.
The survey, part of a national exercise, would aim at providing information on antenatal care, extent of safe deliveries, use of contraceptives, family planning, immunisation services, child health, HIV/AIDS and women's health status.
Dr Sekhar said the survey, to be completed in six months, would help to find out whether the government's health programmes were reaching the public besides collecting details about the villages and government health facilities like sub-centres, primary health centres, community health centres and district hospitals.
International Institute for Population Science (IIPSP) will be the nodal agency for the survey, the third of its kind.
