Contract employees 74 day long dharna called off

Jaipur, Nov 22 (UNI) The indefinite dharna by contract employees in the Health Services was today called off on the 74th day today following an understanding reached between the Joint Action committee and Rajasthan Health Minister.

Addressing a press conference here today Health Minister Digamber Singh said all the employees on contract service in the Health Services would be absorbed in the proposed Grameen Swasth Sewa (Rural Health Scheme) and would be posted in the rural areas.

He said this decision would benefit 4193 employees working in the modern medicine and 403 contract employees working in the Ayurveda department. It includes 925 medical officers, 1476 Nurse grade II, Lab technicians 528, Assistant radiographers 36, ANM 1228 while in the Ayurvda department 309 Vaid and nurse and compounder 144.

The contract employees have been on an indefinite dharna for the regularisation of their job in the health services for the last 74 days in front of the SMS Medical College.

The minister said the proposal would be placed before the cabinet for approval and all the process would be completed within three months.

The minister said the health department have been identitifying difficult areas in every district and the employees posted in these areas under the Rural Health Services scheme would be given special allowances and incentives to augment health services in the rural areas. He said all the places outside the district headquarters will be treated as rural areas and employees under the Rural Health Services would be posted in these areas.
