Shimla, Nov 22 (UNI) Hitting back at the BJP in the same coin, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today said that the Congress will target former chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal on the issue of corruption.
The party is shortly coming out with the details of ''hard disc'' recovered from former chief minister's office, wherein 3,015 names were recommended for government jobs, he told reporters here.
''Corruption by the BJP is going to be our main issue after highlighting the government's achievements during the last four and a half years in the polls.'' Accusing the BJP of raising the corruption issue only to remain in limelight, Mr Singh said since they had no other issue they were resorting to character assassination by levelling false and frivolous charges.
Referring to a particular slogan coined against him and his MP wife, he said they were in bad taste.
''Himachalis do not relish such kind of campaign. They still believe in decent and clean electioneering and would reject the mud slinging planned by the BJP in these assembly elections,'' he said.
The Chief Minister said the Congress would go to the masses with corruption charges against the previous BJP government on the basis of facts that have come to light after thorough investigation.
The BJP cannot get away with all the corruption charges by merely saying that the Congress government could not pin down a single BJP leader in five years of rule, he said.
Referring to the conviction of former Sub-Ordinate Services Board Chairman S M Katwal in three cases for irregularities in recruitments, he said this was a direct reflection on Mr Dhumal's functioning.
Mr Singh said the former chief minister always knew that that the records at the SSSB were being deliberately burnt within three months against all norms.
