Chennai, Nov 21: The Tamil Nadu Government proposed to give free air hostess training to 200 girls, belonging to Backward Class, Most Backward Class (MBC) and Minorities, involving a cost of Rs 1.80 crore.
Minister for Backward Classes, K K S S R Ramachandran, after a review meeting with senior officials, announced that the department would introduce 40 new courses at the cost of Rs ten crore for the benefit of the students of BC, MBC and Minorities.
During 2007-08, the Government, through the Tamil Nadu Backward Class Economic Development Corporation had given loans to 15,119 people, amounting to Rs 14.38 crore. Through the Minorities Economic Development Corporation, 5038 people were given loans amounting to Rs 912.55 lakh.
During 2006-07, a total of 15,585 students were offered 42 types of trainings, Mr Ramachandran added.
