Chandigarh, Nov 21 (UNI) The success story of the 'City Beautiful' now also becoming a smokeless zone is drawing national attention now.
The officials at the Chandigarh stall in the ongoing 27th India International Trade Fair (IITF) in New Delhi are getting numerous queries regarding smoke free status of the city, Chandigarh Industries Director Vandana Disodia said here today.
"People of other states and even foreign tourists are taking keen interest in the implementation of the ban on smoking in all public places and offices in the city," she said.
Chandigarh Administration through Industries Department has set up its pavilion in Hall No 5, Pragati Maidan in India International Trade Fair 2007 being organised by the India Trade Promotion Orgnisation from November 14 to 27.
In the UT pavilion, 19 small scale industries entrepreneurs and artisans are participating to display and sale their products.
More than three lakh visitors have already visited the pavilion in the last seven days, Ms Disodia said.
"Traders participating in the ongoing fair are doing a good business with a range of commodities and products including hand made products, textiles, electric goods. The Chandigarh participants view IITF 2007 as an opportunity to expose their products in the international market and a formative step showcasing the marching towards progress," She said.
Lot of entrepreneurs have also shown interest in the Rajiv Gandhi Information Technology Park and Industries in the city, she added.
