Rs 31 lakh looted from post office

Bilaspur, Nov 21 (UNI) Unidentified criminals looted more than Rs 31 lakh after seriously injuring the security guard posted at the head post office here early this morning, police said.

Criminals attacked and seriously injured Baratu Sahu and took away cash kept in the locker at about 0330 hours, Additional Superintendent of Police B N Meena said.

Postal employees who arrived at the post office this morning to collect mail found the injured guard and informed senior officials. The head post office is located in the middle of Bilaspur, the second biggest town in Chhattisgarh.

The security guard was still in an unconscious condition, Mr Meena said, adding investigation was on.
