Vijayawada, Nov 21 (UNI) Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Rajnath Singh, speculating early Lok Sabha elections, has asked his partymen to be ready for the exercise.
Addressing a public meeting here last night, he asked the party workers not to be disappointed and work with dedication to bring the party back to power.
He appealed to the people to oust the UPA government and vote for the NDA in the next elections for good governance.
Mr Singh said at present, the party was in power in nine states and expressed confidence that it would win the coming Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh assembly elections.
After the BJP came into existence in 1980, it won only two Lok Sabha seats in 1984 and the tally later increased to 89, 116 and 183 seats in the next elections, only because people had faith in the party, he said.
During the six year NDA government headed by Mr Atal Bihari Vajpayee, prices of essential commodities were successfully controlled but under the UPA tenure, the prices skyrocketed, causing much inconvenience to the common man.
The BJP was a party with a political stature and idealogy, he added.
