Panchkula, Nov 21 (UNI) Brilliant centuries by openers Ankit (197 not out) and Avijeet (109) helped Rajasthan score a mammoth 412 for 3 in 123 overs in the first innings on the second day of their three-day match against Sikkim in the All India (Under-19) Cricket Championship (Plate Group) for the Cooch-Behar Trophy here today.
At close of play, Rajasthan were 274 runs ahead with seven wickets in hand. Sikkim were yesterday dismissed for 138.
Resuming at overnight score of 120 for no loss, Ankit and Avijeet scored freely. Thr Sikkim bowlers toiled throughout the day without much success. Avijeet was the first to complete his ton with 10 boundaries before he was caught plumb infront of the wicket at his individual score of 109.
At lunch, Rajasthan were 255 without loss with both the openers have completed their centuries. Avijeet was batting on 104, with Ankit unbeaten at 122. By that time Rajasthan had already garnered a first inning lead of 141 runs.
There was no sign of respite for Sikkim as Ankit played a patient innings and kept on milking runs playing all around the ground. His on drives off medium pacer Sumit Poria twice in the 46th over of the innings were a sheer display of elegance and timing.
Although at the other end, Ashok (17) and Sidharth (19) left in quick succession but Ankit was well focused on his way to unbeaten 197 at draw of stumps. His marathon unbeaten innings had 18 boundaries and one huge six over long-off fence. Arjit was giving him company on 26.
Somit Poria (1 for 71), Anuj (1 for 45) and Dhrubjyoti (1 for 50) were the successful bowlers for the Sikkim.
