Paddy MSP issue will prove ''hangman's noose'' for Cong: BJP
Hyderabad, Nov 21 (UNI) The opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) here will embark on a stir from Nellore on November 24, demanding that the Congress-led UPA Government hike the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for Paddy to Rs 1,000 per quintal, on par with wheat.
''The issue will prove politically to be a hangman's noose for the Congress,'' senior BJP leader and MP M Venkaiah Naidu alleged at a press conference here.
There was no reason for the UPA Government to deny the MSP hike for paddy after increasing the MSP for wheat to Rs 1,000, he said, adding the party would start ''Poru Bata'' against the Government from Nellore on November 24.
He called for a change in the Congress mindset, at least after seeing the tremendous response to the opposition stir to press the demand.
