Orissa govt admits more land to three companies

Bhubaneswar, Nov 21 (UNI) The Orissa government has decided to allot more land to the three companies than signed in the MoUs, Minister for Industries B B Harichandan told the Assembly today.

Replying to a question of Mr Lalatendu Bidyadhar Mohapatra (Cong), the minister said of more land 120 acres of more land was allotted to VISA Steel at Kalinganagar, Aarati Steel, Athagarha and the SPS Steel&Power Ltd Jharsuguda.

While the VISA Steel Ltd, Kalinganagar, Jajpur was allotted 525 acres of land against the MoU signed for 430 acres of land, the Aarati Steel in Athagarh was alloted 721.58 acres of land against 700 acres mentioned in the MoU.

Similarly, the SPS Steel&Power Ltd Jharsuguda was provided 154.08 acres of land against the MoU signed for 150 acres, the Minister said.

In addition to it, 14 companies had applied for more land.

These companies were- Visa Steel Ltd, Shyam DRI Power Ltd, SPS Steel and Power Ltd, MAL Industries Ltd, Rathi Udyog Ltd, SP Metaliks Ltd, Patnaik Steel& Alloys Limited, Orissa Sponge Iron and Steel Ltd, Bhushan Steel Ltd, Bhushan Power and Steel Limited, SMC Power Generations Limited, Aryan Ispact and Powr Limited and Maheshwary Ispat Pvt Ltd.

Mr Harichandan said the applications of these companies were under the consideration of the government.
