Mumbai, Nov 21 (UNI) Opposition members in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation are opposed to the administration's new Recreation Ground and Play Ground (RGPG) policy.
Opposition leader in the BMC Raj Hans Singh said, while speaking to reporters here today, said most clubs in the city are owned by the Shiv Sena and BJP leaders and are built on BMC-owned land.
''The clubs charge lakhs of rupees as membership fee and the common man cannot avail of the facilities,'' he said.
Group Leader of the NCP Niyaz Vanu said the policy that was presented in the Improvement Committee, says that the Commissioner should be given the right to allot land for recreation and play grounds and the elected representatives are not to have any say in this regard.
''If the BJP-Shiv Sena combine use their majority and clear this proposal, we will get it cancelled by the Congress ruled state government,'' Mr Singh added.
