NICD to launch filaria control prog in Kerala

state-wide
filaria
control
programme
will
be
launched
in
Kerala
with
the
help
of
National
Cadet
Corps
(NCC),
according
to
National
Institute
of
Communicable
Disease
(NICD)
Assistant
Director
R
Rajendran.
Talking to newspersons here yesterday, he said the NICD proposed to take up the major programme with the help of 12,000 NCC cadets in the state.
The NICD and NCC proposed to implement the filaria eradication programme in three phases.
In the first phase, a prompt drug distribution scheme would be implemented, while the second would be morbidity management.
In the final phase, a vector control programme would be initiated to eliminate mosquitoes, he added.
